Error Message in Internet Explorer IE8 Published on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 by CMather Admin

Do you want to view only the web page content that was delivered securely?

With IE6 and IE7, users would automatically click on “Yes” to display items outside of the SSL directory. Just goes to show that most users don’t read the actual error message, rather clicking on what seems to be right.

In Internet Explorer IE8 the Security Warning message wording has changed. And users from habit seem to click on “Yes” In fact if you read the message it says the following:

Do you want to view only the web page content that was delivered securely?

“This web page contains content that will not be delivered using a secure HTTPS connection, which could compromise the security of the entire web page.”

Users need to click on “No” in order to view both secure and insecure images etc.

If you get annoyed by this popup every time you visit a secure connection with insecure SSL, you can disable the popup by doing the following.

  • Open Internet Explorer
  • Go to Tools >>>>> Internet Options >>>>> Security
  • Click the ‘Custom Level’ button (Bottom Left)
  • Scroll down to the ‘Miscellaneous’ section and change “Display mixed content” from “Prompt” to “Enable”.

This will stop the popup message!

However if you’re a web designer / developer of a site, you may want to fix these popups to display your site entirely on a SSL connection (Secure sections only). Streaming your web content on a SSL connection without the insecure popup displaying should be the sort out fix.

Really thanks. I was looking for this for a long time. Finally I got this from your site. I was stuck with error messages for about six months. Why is this happening with IE8 ?

How to avoid run time errors in Internet explorer ? Everytime when I login, it is showing run time errors. I formatted my system more than 20 times. If there is no solution, I am going to change my hard disk. What should I do ?
