What is a click-through?

When the banner or button advert is clicked on by the user this takes them through to another linked destination, possibly another site or promotional jump page. This is what is termed as a `click-through`. A click-through rate or CTR can then be established, for example if the banner appears on a page 1000 times and 100 people clicked the banner advert to access the website, this would give a click-through rate of 10%. The industry average is approximately 1% currently and rising (source: Liam Walsh Ad News May 2002). This figure can vary widely for example some banner campaigns have experienced 30% click-through rate, others less than 1%, the challenge is to find out what strategy will work for your particular product or service.

What are `impressions` and `hits`?

An `impression` is a term used to describe the action of a user viewing a page on which a banner or button appears on, that would make one page `impression`. A `hit` is when a user downloads files from a particular site; it is common for a web page to consist of 20 files or more, which would therefore make 20 `hits`. For this reason page `impressions` give a much more accurate idea of usage than `hits` which can be misleading.

Run of Site Campaign (ROS)

Run of site means that the advertising is not targeted but will appear in a random manner throughout the CMather.com website or specific page. The advantage of this is that the product or service is not targeted at a specific topic, but will enable access to a wide cross section of CMather.com audience.

Advertisement specifications:

• Banner dimensions - 468 pixels wide x 60 pixels high GIF/JPG
• Banners must be under 25K in size for fast downloads
• Banners can be uploaded to our servers to save on bandwidth

Banner Submission Guidelines:

• Advertisements must not mislead or misinform the user.
• CMather.com Admin will approve all content before being placed on site
• All URL's must point to a fixed web page. No Redirection allowed. (Unless URL used for tracking purpose)
• All advertising on CMather.com will begin after payment is received
• All banners, links, text etc must be provided to CMather.com for evaluation
• CMather.com does not accept advertisements containing rude or offensive language or graphics
• CMather.com reserves the right to reject any insertion order, graphic or text advertisement
